Are stargates still active, and were they ever?
I've see a map of the globe and from what I remember there are about forty or so scattering around the Earth.
Their purpose seems to be to connect with other planets, galaxes in this or other dimensions. Wikipedia says: "A Stargate is a fictional Einstein–Rosen bridge portal device within the Stargate fictional universe that allows practical, rapid [instant] travel between two distant locations." They are connected to the theory of worm holes in space-time.

Many stargate locations are a gate of some description, but many are just a jumble of rocks or nothing in particular. If you walk into, through or over one I don't think you notice any effect now, but perhaps they did work many years ago. There may be some electro-magnetic increase but I'm not sure of that.
Is it possible that the stone sarcophaguses in various Egyptian tombs and pyramids that were never occupied were a departure location to a wormhole and travel in space-time?
