Rendlesham Forest UFO

A UFO was seen to land in Rendlesham Forest near two US air bases supportedly holding nuclear weapons. Two guards investigated and saw a large dark triangular UFO with hieroglyphs on the sides that eventually flew away after shining a bright light. Two days later the craft returned and a larger military group went to investigate with a small voice recorder. Slight increases of radiation were found on one side of trees, tree branches had been broken and indentations in the ground were seen. The craft eventually shone a bright light on the weapons storage area.
The US said that it was a British problem as it was outside the bases but sent a report. The British MOD took little interest saying it had no security implications.
Was it an alien UFO or a Soviet spy craft or a secret US black project or just a group hallucination or a mistaken view of a lighthouse? The lighthouse beam was shielded from most areas behind, but the glow would have been seen.
Without any solid evidence, many people think the whole episode is mass hallucination, but the tape recording and the excursions into the forest are real.
Larry Warren, who claims that he was also there on the third night (27th December) but not part of Col. Halt's party says that there was a meeting by senior US officers with three small beings.
Another story by a member of a SAS group is that the SAS were in a habit of testing the security of US bases but they didn't know that the US base had upgraded security and they were caught. They were beaten but released when UK military secured their freedom. They then carried out a hoax on 27th December by planting lights and other things in the forest, as revenge for their treatment. This doesn't explain the lights seen on the 25th & 26th or the triangular UFO on the 25th December.
There are so many varying reports and possible explanations that it's difficult to believe anything.
