Balbec, Nan Madol, Easter Island huge stones

Post by wickham »

Huge stones quarried, transported, lifted and positioned

Balbec has a corner stone in a wall estimated to be nearly 1,000 tonnes and three others about 1,000 tonnes. Structures in Peru and Nan Madon in the pacific are also made of very heavy stones. How were these moved? People in Peru didn’t have wheeled vehicles and the quarries and temples are well above the tree line. In Nan Madol the quarry has been identified at the top of a mountain which has steep rocky sides and is about thirty miles over thick jungle from the town at the sea edge. Was it known how to create some anti-gravity effect? Myths at Nan Madol say that two giant brothers arrived to build the settlement and the large stones “flew” to the site. Easter Island myths say that the large sculptures “walked” to their sites. The Nan Madol settlement is partly 80 feet under the sea which suggested that it was built before the end of the ice age, complete with canals and port sea walls.
