It's not known whether the flying saucer actually flew.
However, early after WW2 ended Admiral Byrd's expedition to Antarctica saw several flying saucers. Apart from having a main target to survey Antarctica he was believed to have a secret mission to investigate alleged Nazi bases. Why would he go to Antarctica with warships to do a survey unless he was expecting a battle with remaining Nazis? Many ships were lost put down to extreme weather but many believe he had a battle with flying saucers.
